The name Gusto’s Autosmith isn’t just word salad, it has a story.
Growing up in the garage with my dad; fixing cars and things, I wanted to have my own shop. i was about 15 when i thought of the name The Autosmith and thought i was a genius, why had no one ever thought of that!? - i later learned that i was not, in-fact, the only one who had thought of that.
i got my first real automotive service job when i was 20, as a Service Porter at a Toyota Dealership and worked my way into the shop as a Lube Tech and doing major services, tires, etc.
Then I got into the bodyshop where I stayed for about 18 years, working my way up from detailer, to body tech, and parts to estimator.
I have never cared for the "best case scenario" cost-cutting methodology that embodies the Auto Insurance world and dictates most of all collision damage claims and their repairs. I have never cared for moving high volumes of vehicles in and out of the shop to satisfy a companies' financial projections. What I HAVE always enjoyed, and have been good at is repairing vehicles, helping people, and leaving a vehicle better than i found it. So my goal for a long time now has been to start a company where I have control over the quality and quantity of work that i do.
These days, I have two young boys and freedom of my schedule means more to me than ever. I understand how precious our family time is, and coincidentally how messy our vehicles get throughout our day to day routines and weekend adventures.
With that, how did i come up with the name?
Gusto was the name of my dog, that I adopted when i about 22. He was with me for 15 long years. He was with me as I navigated early adulthood, to getting married, buying our first house and having our first child. Gusto was a super character, important to me and anyone who met him, enough for me to tattoo his name on arm and name my first company after him.
So, with that; I am an Autosmith and I was Gusto’s friend. I am Gusto’s Autosmith - Greg Goucher, Owner.
We'd love to hear from you
